Friending and Personal Stuff

Please feel free to friend me! I may or may not friend back depending on how active I am at the moment.

I tend to make public updates about my life, and set them private a few days later. I want to let people know how I'm doing, but I'm not going to leave everything hanging around the internet forever.

Recs
Everything I rec, here or on rec communities, I have a saved copy of (barring harddrive failure or other catastrophes). If you want a copy, feel free to ask and I may be able to help you. If the fic was given to me specifically under a no-sharing agreement I won't share it, but otherwise I'm happy to forward things.

I will not remove links from recs, so even if the site is currently offline you might be able to try archive.org.

I'm also happy to help if you want to start building your own offline collection of fic (hint: search for Calibre eBooks to get started).

Yu Yu Hakusho was one of my early fandoms, and was the foundation in a lot of ways to my entire fandom experience (my other formative fandom was Sailor Moon, and the less said about that experience the better).

Skeleton Dancer was one of the first YYH stories where I really felt the same wacky blend of hyper-violence, over-emoting and understated reactions that I found in the anime. It was one of the stories that set my expectations for team fic. It was, and remains, one of the handful of slash fics where the slash relationship seems to actually be within spitting distance of what I saw on screen.

I lost the link to it lo these many eons ago, and just found it again. I haven't finished my re-read, but so far nothing has disappointed. This is one of the standout YYH fics for me, and I hope you enjoy it also.

ZOMBIES. Yes, that's correct. Zombies. Because there just weren't enough necromancers involved before now. But no, these aren't the standard, fairlyeasytokill zombies. There are Plot Twists. And Unexpected Visitors. And slashy demons.

Fandom: LORD OF THE RINGS
Pairing: Finduilas/Denethor
Length: Very, very long, but easy to read in small bits
Author on LJ: http://edoraslass.livejournal.com/
Author Website: Archived at Henneth-Annun
Why this must be read:

Everything about Denethor, Boromir and Faramir changed after I read this. A beautiful look at the life of the Steward's household told by the nanny, starting from Boromir's birth and going through the end of the War of the Rings. Edoraslass knows and loves children, and that shines through in a Boromir and Faramir who could run up to you one day at the park, while simultaneously being very much the person they were in the books. As usual for Edoraslass, every character is amazing. Even the drunken lout who makes a single appearance! Denethor and Finduilas feel like people and parents, struggling with children and a kingdom in the midst of chaos and loss.

Edoraslass has more short stories in this universe, but I can't possibly list them all and the mods wouldn't like me very much if I did. So take this for what is is: an excellent world that can be fleshed out at will as you take in more of Edoraslass' stories. Go read.
